Preheater
for Fluorescent Lamp Heating Coil
|
|
|
| Ceramic PTC thermistors can
be used to extend the service life of fluorescent lamp by preheating the lamp heating
coil. For this purpose, the thermistor is connected in parallel with the resonant
capacitor used to generate power for lighting of the lamp. In this case, the current
is allowed to flow around the capacitor and through the thermistor at switch-on.
Once the thermistor heats up, its resistance increases rapidly and diverts currents to the
resonant capacitor for charge build-up.
